Strategic Cycleway Scheme, Bury’s Bridge to Carrigtwohill, Cork

Public Realm

Our works on this project were along sections of the Strategic Cycleway Scheme Bury’s Bridge to Carrigtwohill which forms part of Cork County Councils sustainable transport plan between East Cork, Little Island and Cork City. The scheme comprises 7.7km of pedestrian and cycle path segregated from vehicular traffic.

Working within the framework of the Design Manual for Urban Roads and Streets we were appointed to design and prepare plans for tender issue to allow for the landscaping along sections of the route. We worked closely with senior engineers from the traffic and transportation dept and the final scheme comprises a mix of pollinator friendly perennial planting with specimen shrubs, ornamental grasses, groundcover planting, wildflower meadow, bulbs and avenue tree planting.
